New Bedford's Union and Purchase Streets Host Annual 50's Night Car Show

NEW BEDFORD — Classic cars, live music and food trucks packed Union and Purchase streets downtown Thursday evening as New Bedford's annual 50's Night drew families and car enthusiasts into the heart of the city.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

Vintage vehicles — from a high-performance classic to Chevrolets, Corvettes and Fords — lined Union Street and Purchase Street for the evening event, with owners popping hoods for passersby to inspect engines up close. One Ford pickup truck had been converted into a working pool table for guests to play on curbside.

Singer Chops Turner performed for the crowd, while the Sorbae mobile truck, staffed in part by Devin Andrews, served treats to attendees. Families turned out in numbers, with young children weaving between the parked cars and taking in the music along both downtown corridors.
